We are finally planning a wedding after 8 years together and 3 years engaged! I know the timing is pretty anti-climactic for most of you, but we are still excited to celebrate our commitment and love with our closest family and friends!

We'd like to plan a celebration that reflects who we are as a couple and so, as a couple who loves to explore the great outdoors together, we've chosen the beautiful coastal redwood location of Monte Toyon just south of Santa Cruz, CA tucked in a redwood forest retreat. Please check this site for information on activities, lodging, transportation, RSVPs and more! We're looking forward to a wonderful time with great company!

Dear overnight guests,
Please remember to bring a sheet, pillow case and towel with you! Those of you who are in-town, we are in need of 14 comforters and/or sleeping bags. Can you tell us if you can bring an extra one for one of our out-of-town relatives? Thank you so much.

If you haven't already paid for the overnight, please bring a check and give it to Kathy, our wedding coordinator!

All of the weekend retreat activities will take place at Monte Toyon, so this is the most fun and convenient lodging option! FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the wedding be held?

All wedding activities will be held at the Monte Toyon Camp in Aptos, CA. The town of Aptos is just south of Santa Cruz, and about 40 miles from San Jose, CA and 70 miles from San Francisco, CA. The camp itself is tucked in a redwood forest a few miles from the ocean near the famous Highway 1.

What are the nearest airports?

There are a few airports that are close to the Santa Cruz area: Mineta San Jose International Airport (approx. 40 miles), San Francisco International Airport (approx. 65 miles), Oakland International Airport (approx. 65 miles) and the Monterey Peninsula Airport (approx. 60 miles). We would suggest flying into San Jose International Airport, which is a quick drive to Aptos, CA. If you would like to carpool with other guests, please let us know so that we can help you arrange that!

What are my lodging options?

Monte Toyon Camp
We hope that you will participate in the retreat experience and lodge at the Monte Toyon Camp with us! It's a step up from a camp experience in beautiful wooden lodges. The bathrooms are shared and it's 4 to a room, but you'll be surrounded by good company and delicious nature! We will share the costs of these overnight rates to make it affordable for our guests. All meals are included! Information on reservations here.

Best Western Seacliff Inn
We've reserved a block of rooms for guests who would like the comfort of a hotel. The Best Western is a few miles from the campsite. Information on reservations here.

What should I wear?

Wear anything from casual hiking clothes to your craziest dancing attire! We'll be both indoors and outdoors. Saturday night is the big party, located indoors at spacious Helgesson Hall right at Monte Toyon. It's a short walk from the dinner hall. Make sure to bring a sweater for the shade and night.

Why don't you have a gift registry?

Several of you, our friends and relatives, have asked what we would like as wedding gifts. What we want most is your presence at our wedding. We know that many of you will be traveling far to attend our wedding – and that is already quite an expense!

However, if you insist on giving us something, our preference would be money. Sorry if this sounds practical and uncreative! We already have a lot of things, and will probably be living in small spaces such as apartments for a while. If you like, you could earmark gifts to go towards future purchases, such as furniture or kitchenware.

Again, your presence is what counts! We can't wait to celebrate with our family and friends, and hope you enjoy yourselves!
